This bespoke course is aimed at individuals who have completed their PHECC Emergency First Responder (EFR) course and want to progress into a frontline career. This course will build upon your responder skills and bring you to a standard that will allow you to operate in a support role to the lead clinician aboard a front line ambulance. This course is equivalent to an Emergency Care Assistant (ECA) and is an OFQUAL regulated qualification.

Some of the modules covered in the course are:

Unit 1: First Response Emergency Care Assessment Skills and Medical Gases

· Patient assessment and management

· Cardiovascular system and relevant diseases

· ECG application and monitoring

· Airway management

· Emergency gases – oxygen

Unit 2: First Response Emergency Care Trauma Life Support

· Respiratory system – relevant disorders and infections

· Thoracic trauma

· Musculoskeletal system

· Nervous system

· Mechanisms of injury & kinetics

· Sexual assault

· Major incidents

Unit 3: First Response Emergency Care and Assisting Advanced Procedures

· Maternity care

· Sepsis

· Psychosocial development in children

· Emergency care for sick & injured children
