About the Course:
This fully endorsed and recognised Phlebotomy and Cannulation training qualification is designed for people currently working in healthcare such as Nurses and Midwives, HCA’s, Qualsafe AAPs, HCPC Paramedic, PHECC Paramedic, and Advanced Paramedics.
During the course, students will learn both Phlebotomy and Cannulation skills. These two clinical skills are the most commonly performed invasive procedures in hospital and in the pre-hospital settings for either testing of blood samples or the delivery of life saving medications.
Skills are both demonstrated and assessed during the classroom sessions. This will certify successful students in the academic and practical understanding of venepuncture and IV.
Post course placement is encouraged for eligible students on our 2 day course. This allows students to complete a learner’s logbook and have each skill signed off by a healthcare professional competent in these areas. When students carry out a minimum of 30 Venepuncture or IV procedures successfully they are certified as competent in these skills increasing employability opportunities.
This is based on the current standards and requirements when applying for jobs in Phlebotomy within the HSE and NHS.
We can provide all our students with unpaid clinical placements in Dublin in patient facing roles which allows them to achieve this competence.
