Wheelchair Clamping & Lifting Equipment
Our Wheelchair Clamping & Lifting Equipment course provides training on the correct use of Wheelchair Tie Downs and Occupant Restraint Systems (WTORS). It also covers the use of passenger lifts, in line with PSVAR DDR Regulations.
It is a legal requirement for companies, under section 2 of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 to provide the correct Information, Instruction and Training to their employees, in order for them to carry out their duties safety and competently. This course ensures that those responsible for passenger safety are trained and certified in the correct use of wheelchair tie-down and occupant restraint systems. Furthermore, a duty of care to all passengers during transit is their unequivocal right.
Wheelchair Clamping & Lifting Equipment Course Content
This course is very much ‘hands on training’ and each participant will have the opportunity to secure a wheelchair and passenger in the training class. Our tutors also carry all current equipment with them to training sessions. Courses can be tailored to suit clients’ requirements and vehicle type.

Understand the forces involved during a collision
Understand the importance of utilising the equipment correctly
Identify the importance of vehicle safety
Lock seats safely in a bus
Identify and use passenger restraints
Identify and use 4-way systems
Assessment:
Participants will be required to participate fully in all practical elements and complete a short learning questionnaire.
Certification:
Certification is provided by Hart EMS on successful completion of the course and will be valid for 2 years.
